There’s an old southern tradition of eating black-eyed peas on New Year’s Day to bring good luck. In fact, many people think you should eat exactly 365 black-eyed peas if you want to have a lucky day every single day of the new year.

Black-eyed peasThe easiest way I know of to eat 365 black-eyed peas is in this delicious dip.

If you want to be SURE you’re getting exactly 365 of the little peas, count them out before you make this dip.

BLACK-EYED PEA DIP

1 (15 oz.) can cooked black-eyed peas (drained)

1 (7 oz.) container pico de gallo

Combine both ingredients in a blender until somewhat smooth. Serve on tortilla chips and good luck for the year is almost guaranteed!
